Blog Journal 10

I think surveys and other data collection tools are very useful when used as a way to gauge general opinion. For example, end of the year surveys are common in high school and college alike, and help to reveal what students thought about a course and its instructor. I imagine I will use surveys to see what my students thought of my class overall when I become a teacher, but I think I will also use them to see what students would like to do throughout the year.
The topic I found the most interesting this year was assistive and adaptive technologies. Seeing all the different technologies that my peers found and posted about was great as I was able to see far more than I could by myself. Seeing students with different disabilities being able to participate in education is always wonderful, and so the technology is fun to read about and look into.
I have a much better grasp on how to use Microsoft office tools now than I did at the start of the semester, and so I think programming would be a useful skill to learn next. I know next to nothing about programming, and while I don't necessarily think it would be essential to my life or career, it still seems like an important concept to understand and a valuable skill to have.
